About the Book

Driven by an insatiable curiosity and the pursuit of forbidden knowledge, Victor Frankenstein brings to life a creature stitched together from lifeless body parts, only to recoil in terror at his own creation. As the monster awakens, its yellow eyes opening for the first time, Victor becomes overwhelmed with dread, setting into motion a harrowing tale of tragedy and obsession. The once-innocent creation is soon transformed by loneliness and rejection, ultimately turning into a vengeful force that haunts its maker and demands companionship at any cost. This Gothic masterpiece delves into themes of ambition, isolation, responsibility, and the dangers of unchecked scientific exploration, weaving a spellbinding story that remains profoundly relevant today. Presented in a beautiful deluxe edition with gilded edges, a ribbon bookmark, and elegant endpapers, this classic is not only a coveted collectible but also an essential read for anyone captivated by the mysteries and ambitions that define the human spirit.

About the Author

Mary Shelley (1797–1851), born Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin in London, was an influential English novelist, short story writer, essayist, dramatist, biographer, and travel writer. Best remembered for her Gothic novel Frankenstein: or, The Modern Prometheus (1818), she was also the author of notable works such as Valperga (1823) and The Last Man (1826). In addition to her fiction, Mary devoted herself to editing, preserving, and promoting the poetry of her husband Percy Bysshe Shelley, helping secure his literary legacy. Over the course of her career, she contributed essays, biographies, and stories to various magazines and journals, including the London Magazine and the Westminster Review, and played a vital role in shaping nineteenth-century literary culture. Her later works include The Fortunes of Perkin Warbeck (1830) and Falkner (1837), as well as scholarly contributions to Lardner’s Lives of the Most Eminent Literary and Scientific Men. Though she produced a diverse body of writing, Mary Shelley’s lasting legacy endures through the unforgettable story of Frankenstein, a novel that continues to inspire readers and writers across the world.
